Penetrating sealers generally have little effect on the concrete surface. Most topical coatings however can affect concrete surface profile, and may require the use of anti-slip additives in areas with foot or vehicle traffic. Give us a call, or send through an email with any advice you may need on your next project!
Yes, it is definitely possible. Prior to sealing it is advisable that a small area is tested for compatibility. Apply Bescon Solulene liberally and broom in vigorously, then leave it to weather for a minimum 24 hours. If the test area shows signs of delamination, flaking or cracking then the old sealer should be stripped with Bescon Sealer Strippa. If the test remains soft and tacky, then it is compatible. Apply Solulene liberally with a broom and work in to the surface, then proceed with sealing application guidelines.
Sealing is not recommended, as it reduces pedestrian and vehicle safety, as the sealed surface can be very slippery in wet or dry conditions. However, adding Bescon Anti-Slip into your sealer when applying it may improve safety on your surface.
Acid etching opens the pores of a concrete surface, allowing sealer to penetrate deep into the concrete. The choice to use acid etching depends on specific environmental conditions and circumstances. ACID ETCHING PROCEDURE 1. Wet concrete down prior to acid etching. 2. Mix 1 part Bescon Hydrochloric Acid to 15 parts water into a watering can 3. Apply it evenly over the surface of the concrete. Don't allow the surface to dry. 4. Thoroughly rinse off the surface to remove the acid solution. 5. Allow to dry completely prior to sealing.
